Microneedling Consent Form
It is essential for you, as the patient, to be thoroughly informed about your condition and the proposed treatment, as this knowledge will assist you in deciding whether to proceed with microneedling. This information is provided not to cause concern, but to ensure you are well-informed, allowing you to make an informed choice regarding your consent for the treatment
Description of the treatment: Microneedling therapy facilitates a regulated activation of the skin's natural healing process by generating micro-injuries, which stimulates collagen production without the danger of lasting scars. This leads to skin that appears smoother, firmer, and more youthful. The microneedling process is conducted safely and accurately using a sterile needle head, typically taking between 30 to 60 minutes to complete, depending on the specific treatment and area being addressed
Side affects: Following the procedure, the skin may exhibit redness and a flushed appearance akin to moderate sunburn. Additionally, you might feel tightness and mild sensitivity in the treated area. These sensations will significantly decrease within a few hours. By the third day, there will be minimal signs indicating that the procedure was performed.
Precautions and warnings: Caution is advised when considering treatment for individuals with scars or stretch marks that are less than one year old, those with keloid scars, and patients who have a history of eczema, psoriasis, or other chronic conditions. Additionally, individuals with a history of actinic keratosis, herpes simplex infections, diabetes, or wound-healing issues, as well as those undergoing immunosuppressive therapy, should be approached with care, particularly if there are raised moles, warts, or other lesions in the treatment area.
Contraindications: Microneedling treatment is contraindicated for patients with: keloid scars, scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities, a hemorrhagic disorder or haemostatic dysfunction, active bacterial or fungal infection. Pregnant women is also a contraindication. Current or recent use of accutane, open lesions, malignant skin tumors, sunburned skin and acne grades 3 and 4.
